Good news, SOPA took a pirate website offline. Bad news, it only lasted a day.

Well there was one positive to report from the ill-conceived anti-SOPA web blackout.  This pirate forum (that makes money by “sharing” infringing (stolen) films and TV shows) went dark.  So, at least in regard to this one website, SOPA already made an impact in the battle against online piracy–if only for one day.

…is going on strike against the SOPA on the 18th Jan 2012, this is inconjunction effort together with big names like Reddit, Mozilla, Wikipedia, WordPress and many more. …will be blacked out on the 18th Jan to make way for the strike, normal operation will be back on 19th Jan 2012.

Here’s hoping Congress will pass legislation that can help them be “blacked out” for the other 364 days of the year.

Too bad this pirate site doesn't look like this every day of the week!

Here’s what this pirate website usually looks like when it’s not protesting legislation that might shut it down, or at the very least, shut down its source of revenue (advertising income).  Interesting how the word “censorship” has been subverted in this case.

SOPA is already working! This pirate website going on "strike" Wednesday.

Surprise, surprise, the pirates don't like SOPA.
